Origin Story
EnsioVison was formed by Tim Mason CEO who, after 30 years of experience in the electronic security industry held a chance discussion with an existing customer. This catalyst of innovation queried if fixing a barcode reading camera to a forklift truck could change the way the industry worked.
Tim, along with his senior team Mark Stacey (MD) Andrew Sacks (FD) and Aidan Mason (IT), made a considerable investment in perfecting the scanning of barcodes in harsh environments at high speeds. This combined with the ability to provide quality pallet condition images proved to be an enticing opportunity for one of Europe’s largest Palletised logistics companies who wanted to automate their data collection system.
Having previously completed the philanthropic initiative at the Saïd Business School, Oxford launched by Goldman Sachs (10ksb),Tim teamed up with fellow alumni Dr Roger Fawcett. Roger brought a wealth of tech experience having realised a significant eight figure sum from Intel following the sale of his business Omnitek. An R & D centre was then set up In Basingstoke with a team of world leading tech experts who saw the vision and strength of the leadership team and the impact this product could make.
With a formidable software team on-board the solution was given the name Sydan, the Finnish meaning “heart”. Additional features have been developed to include
- Weighing: using a combination of hydraulics and AI with the Neural Networks to deliver high quality readings enabling accurate loading of pallets on to trailers, and recharging for incorrect billing units.
- Three-dimensional measuring of pallets, a first in the world technology on a moving vehicle.
- Image capture of pallet condition.
With multiple patents granted already, Sydan is the only product in the world that can: Scan a barcode; capture condition images; weight the pallet; and measure the pallet; all whilst the forklift truck is completing its normal tasks. All the data is sent to the management software via Sydan’s portal.
Spring 2025 sees the worldwide launch of Sydan.
